The Power of “Plug Yourself” Shown at CMT Music Awards
Friday, April 27th, 2007“We wish that every show was fan-voted,” - those were the exact words of Gary LeVox as Rascal Flatts accepted the Group Video of the Year award at the CMT Music Awards on April 16th. The CMT Music Awards claims to be “the only fan-voted country music awards show,” but if Gary gets his wish, the statistic success of fan-voted awards shows will help produce many more of them, in all different genres. Fans are the ones choosing all the way through, from the peliminaries (when they have to decide who the four nominees will be) to the final award. So obviously, the stars with the big fanbases, ability to communicate with their listeners, and useful marketing methods are always the ones in the Final Four. Really though, with this kind of format, no one loses (at least not the ones who don’t deserve to). The majority of the fans get to see who they want win the awards and really feel involved in the show, and the artists that worked hard to win the award get more popularity, increased loyalty, and even more record sales after their name is dropped a couple of times on national television. And all it takes for them is a little “shameless self-promotion”, or as we like to call it, the power of Plug Yourself.

Do you ever have problems managing, copying, or downloading songs on iTunes? Apparently a lot of people do, but Apple and EMI are teaming up to help resolve the problem.
